CONTINUING EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP-The New York State Real Estate Education Foundation (NYSREEF), by the institution of a scholarship program, hopes to raise the level of knowledge, professionalism and client service among those in the real estate profession by encouraging participation in approved courses. Any individual who has at least one year experience in real estate sales and/or other related diciplines and/or who holds a real estate license in New York is eligible. Applicants should: Show a positive motivation toward real estate education, prove interest in furthering their career in real estate, real estate education or REALTOR board administration, and be a New York State resident who is associated with an office located in NY State. Applications should be submitted between January 1 and July of each year.

INTERESTED IN OBTAINING YOUR GRI? ... GREAT SAVINGS AVAILABLE- GRI candidates have 5 years to attain their designation, but for those who would like to complete the series in one year, NYSAR has an added incentive. You can now receive a super savings rate on GRI courses when you register and take the full GRI series in 2007

REAL ESTATE CONTINUING EDUCATION
All real estate salespersons and brokers are required to complete 22.5 hours of approved CE during each 2 yr. licnese period. Licensed and certified appraisers are required to fulfill 28 hours of approved CE during a 2 yr. licnese period. *Effective July 1, 2008 real estate licensees are required to take at least 3.0 hours of fair housing and anti-discrimination coursework as part of the existing 22.5 hour requirement. The Elmira-Corning Board of REALTORS will offer two courses that fulfill this new DOS requirement.

NAR'S 2.5 HOUR MANDATORY ETHICS REQUIREMENT
Between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2008, every REALTOR is required to complete 2.5 hours of Code of Ethics training. This includes appraiser members.
There are several continuing education courses that are being offered through the Elmira-Corning Board of REALTORS this year that fulfill this 2.5 hour Ethics requirement. Not only will you be fulfilling your NAR Mandatory Ethics requirement but you will also receive continuing education credit hours.

We have a great continuing education schedule planned for 2008. There are several courses being offered that not only apply to DOS CE credit but also fulfill NAR's 2.5 hour ethics requirement and the 3.0 hour DOS Fair Housing requirement. See below for course descriptions and applications.

2008 Code of Ethics & Professional Standards Procedure Training (6.0 CE Hrs.)
While everyone is welcome to attend, this seminar is intended for Board/Association Grievance and Professional Standards Committee members, Directors, Officers, Executive Officers/Professional Standard Administrators and Board Legal Counsels. This course qualifies for 6 hours of New York State Continuing Education Credit and the NAR 2.5 hour Mandatory Ethics requirement. 45 Hour Broker Qualifying Course
Are you interested in taking the Broker' s Qualifying Course?... Effective July 1st, 2008 there are several changes being made to the License Law that affect Broker licensing. If you are thinking about getting your Associate Brokers License/Brokers license you will want to take the 45 hour Broker's Qualifying Course being offered in March at the Elmira-Corning Assoc. of REALTORS. Applications are available on this website under Education/Brokers Course. This will be you last opportunity to take the Broker's Course before the DOS changes go into effect. The course will begin on March 6th. Seating is limited. The registration deadline is February 25th.

Reverse Mortgages for Senior Homeowners (15.0 CE Hrs)

"Code of Ethics Quadrennial Training" (3.0 CE Hrs)
THIS COURSE IS FULL, REGISTRATION HAS BEEN CLOSED
Between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2008 every REALTOR is required to complete 2.5 hrs. of Ethics training. Failure to complete the required ethics training will be considered a violation of a membership duty for which a REALTOR membership shall be suspended until such time as the required training is completed. This course fulfills NAR's 2.5 Mandatory Ethics requirement, as well as 3.0 hours of continuing education credit.

HUD Received over 1,400 housing discrimination complaints in NY state last year, a number they believe represents only 1% of actual discriminatory evetns. Whether unintentional or subtle, discrimination is against the law. People have a right to live wherever they can afford to live, and REALTORS have an obligation to protect that right. REALTOR TRIPLE PLAY CONVENTION & TRADE EXPO IN ATLANTIC CITY NJ
The Elmira-Corning Regional Assoc. of REALTORS has organized a travel package through Covered Wagon Tours to the Triple Play Convention (spouses/guests welcome). The travel package includes bus transportaion to and from Atlantic City, and 3 nights' accommodations at Bally's Claridge Towers.
