CONTINUING EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP-The New York State Real Estate Education Foundation (NYSREEF), by the institution of a scholarship program, hopes to raise the level of knowledge, professionalism and client service among those in the real estate profession by encouraging participation in approved courses. Any individual who has at least one year experience in real estate sales and/or other related diciplines and/or who holds a real estate license in New York is eligible. Applicants should: Show a positive motivation toward real estate education, prove interest in furthering their career in real estate, real estate education or REALTOR board administration, and be a New York State resident who is associated with an office located in NY State. Applications should be submitted between January 1 and July of each year.

INTERESTED IN OBTAINING YOUR GRI? ... GREAT SAVINGS AVAILABLE- GRI candidates have 5 years to attain their designation, but for those who would like to complete the series in one year, NYSAR has an added incentive. REAL ESTATE CONTINUING EDUCATION
All real estate salespersons and brokers are required to complete 22.5 hours of approved CE during each 2 yr. licnese period. Licensed and certified appraisers are required to fulfill 28 hours of approved CE during a 2 yr. licnese period. *Effective July 1, 2008 real estate licensees are required to take at least 3.0 hours of fair housing and anti-discrimination coursework as part of the existing 22.5 hour requirement. The Elmira-Corning Board of REALTORS will offer two courses in 2009 that fulfill this new DOS requirement.

NAR'S 2.5 HOUR MANDATORY ETHICS REQUIREMENT
Between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2012, every REALTOR is required to complete 2.5 hours of Code of Ethics training. This includes appraiser members.

SYSTEMS AND STARTEGIES FOR SUCCESS (15.0 CE Hrs.)
This 30 hour course was developed by NYSAR. The program has been tested twice and has received evaluations that were better than they could have imagined. They even had brokers participate so that they could see if it was something that thier new agents should participate in. They loved the program and even learned a few things! Although the course was designed for new licnesees, those who've been in the business a while can benefit by the motivation and focus it provides.

**THIS COURSE FULFILLS THE NY DEPARTMENT OF STATE 3.0 FAIR HOUSING REQUIREMENT**
Fair and equitable treatment in housing, and real estate transactions is a right by law. In this course, we focus on the mandatory fair housing issues real estate licensees must understand. The United States Congress and the New York State legislature have made it clear that ensuring equal access to housing is an important goal for our society. Real estate professionals need to know what conduct violates anti-discrimination laws to avoid potential liability.
Here you will learn about federal, state, and local anti-discrimination laws, problems that can occur from fair housing violations, and your duties and responsibilites to treat all clients fairly and equally under the law.

REALTOR TRIPLE PLAY CONVENTION & TRADE EXPO IN ATLANTIC CITY NJ
THE INFORMATION BELOW IS REGARDING THE 2008 CONVENTION. WE WILL BE POSTING THE 2009 INFORMATION AS SOON AS IT BECOMES AVAILABLE.
The Elmira-Corning Regional Assoc. of REALTORS has organized a travel package through Covered Wagon Tours to the Triple Play Convention (spouses/guests welcome).
